"A disgrace": Hut owner rants about lost hiker who escalates in alpine hut

Mountain hut owner Renato Costa complained bitterly about the aggressive behavior of a hiker in the Dolomites. The hiker had insulted him and kicked in the door of the alpine hut.
Renato Costa has been the host of the "Rifugio Franco Cavazza al Pisciadù," an Alpine Club hut belonging to the Bologna section of the Italian Alpine Club, for 45 years. Now the host has lost his temper on Facebook and publicly complained about a hiker who had apparently gotten lost and vented his anger at the hut door.
"I don't usually like to publish things like this, but if it has to be done, it has to be done," Costa explained in his Facebook post. He continued: "After we explained to this gentleman which path to take to go down, he seems to have gotten lost. To thank us, he came to the hut, furious, damaged the door, and insulted us with swear words. A disgrace." Renato Costa wrote everything in capital letters, like a cry for help. He also provided pictures.
The hut owner received a lot of support in the comments. "The mountains are now being overrun by people who come without equipment and without respect. How sad!" reads one comment.
"The only option is to file a report. Too many people believe they can get away with anything. Anyone who behaves like that in an emergency shelter will behave like that everywhere. Because if you're just full of rust, you'll take it with you everywhere," reads another comment.
Just this spring , another mountain hut owner vented his anger on Facebook : Giancarlo Lenatti, owner of the "Rifugio Marco e Rosa" in Lombardy, complained about damage caused by careless climbers who had left the refuge unlocked. Snow had soaked the beds, and Lenatti had to take an expensive €1,500 helicopter ride to repair the damage.
Lenatti told "Il Dolomiti ": "It's all because of reckless pseudo-alpinists." The problem apparently occurs repeatedly and already cost Lenatti four helicopter flights in the spring of 2025.
